Simple Machines Blog

We built simple machines to a specified mechanical advantage and then calculated % efficiency.
We built 4 simple machines; Incline plane, wheel and axel, pulley, and lever. We built each of this machines because we learned how to find the IMA of this machines and each of this machines had an IMA of 6, besides the pullye it had an IMA of 2

This is the Pulley and it picks heavy loads.
Design and Built by Sean C. and Morris U.

This is the Lever. This Machine helps to elevate loads using other heavy load on the other side
Design and built by Morris U. and Armando A.

This is the Incline plane. It helps to push or pull loads up stairs.
design and built by Armando A.
This is the Wheel and Axel and it also helps to pick up heavy loads.
Design and build by Armando A. and Anthony.
In this project we came in different places with each machine. For the Pulley we cam in last, for the incline plane we came in first place, for the Lever we were disqualified because we forgot to mark where to place the box of nails and finally for the wheel and axel we were also last. Over all the winner of the project were Amy, Mike, Nick P. and Steven. It was very difficult to pick a winner because we needed to find percent efficiency and percent error so it was a tough process to go through.
When we didn't get 100% efficiency we went back to our design and measure the dimensions and fix them or start al over again if we had the time to.
